Enmore is a buzzing and energetic residential area situated adjacent to Newtown, Marrickville and Stanmore. The main street through Enmore is the well-known Enmore Rd. Enmore Rd is home to the famous Enmore Theatre, which attracts music acts from all over the world. The road is also famous for the delicious range of foods available at the numerous cafes and restaurants that line the strip – in particular vegetarian and Lebanese food. Though in recent years it has been more known for its cafe culture and being the place the locals go, Kings St in Newtown used to be the place to go but has become quite crowded so the locals often head to Enmore or St Peters.

Enmore has a high student population due to its proximity to the University of Sydney, the population sits around 3,572 with almost 30% in tertiary education. The suburb is also well known for having a strong sense of community. Residents of the area have a reputation for activism, artistry and involvement in their community that maintains a vibrant atmosphere in Enmore. The suburb is also notable for its street art and numerous performance spaces.

The original inhabitants of Enmore and much of the surrounding area were the Cadigal people of the Eora Nation.
