St Peters is situated in Sydney’s Inner West. It is situated approximately 6 kilometers south of the Central Business District. For the years between 1871 and 1949 St Peters was its own municipality however since then it has fallen under the Marrickville Council.

The St Peters name was derived from the St Peters Anglican church. This church was built in 1838 and is the third oldest church within Sydney. Some historians also say that it is the first church built in Australia without utilizing convict labour.

St Peters is a unique area with neighboring suburbs of Tempe, Marrickville and Erskineville. The suburb contains both commercial and residential aspects giving a diverse feel to the suburb.

There are a range of shops and cafes along the Princess highway and King St. Residents of St Peters have a reputation for their political activism and commitment to their community. The most well known part of St Peters is Sydney Park.

St Peters is the location of Mr Washer’s head office. It is located along May St, across the road from Sydney Park. The original inhabitants of the St Peters area are from the Cadigal tribe.
