Milsons Point, Sydney

Milsons Point is a suburb on the lower north shore of Sydney nestled between North Sydney, Kirribilli and McMahons Point. It also houses the northern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

It is extremely well-served by public transport both to the south and north, and it is possible to walk to the Sydney CBD from Milsons Point over the Harbour Bridge.

Milsons Point was named after James Milson, who was granted land in the area by Governor Brisbane in 1824. At that time Milsons Point was nearly uninhabited.

Milsons Point is the location of North Sydney Olympic Pool, built in 1936. The Pool, built on the site of the Harbour Bridge works, features beautiful Art Deco architecture and has been the site of many world records by swimmers such as Shane Gould and Dawn Fraser. It now includes the original outdoor fifty metre pool, a paddling pool and also an indoor twenty five metre pool.
